I noticed that my ac compressor keeps cycling- I hear the clutch kicking in-even though I don't have the ac turned on. I unpluged the lead to the receiver/dryer to shut it off. Could the controls on the dash be faulty, or what?

Yes the switch on the dash control could be problem. BTW dash control set to window defrost will turn on the compressor.

I experience same on my 1993 940.

In addition the electric fan starts 20 seconds after i start the car when engine is cold.

Any idea how this might be connected to the AC on/off switching ?

I also have the same thing with my '93 940 turbo. A/C will NOT shut off unless I turn the blower fan off. Darn thing runs even with the heat at full blast. I've tried TWO different control units, both do the same thing. It's got to be an internal problem.

I just realized - my car has aftermarket alarm and car phone installations.

I'm pretty sure at least one is hot-wired right into my fusebox. Was looking in there the other day, and there are pos/neg. leads tapping into a couple of sockets. Do either of you guys have this? If so, perhaps it's messing with some climate control circuit?

The only thing I can think of right now.

Although we are communicating 940-problems in the 700-forum now it probably is in both interests.

yes, when i turn on my dashcontrol to window defrost it turns on the airco compressor.

Yes, i do have an aftermarket start interruption system installed in my car, wired via the general fusebox.

I do not have a CC-system (Climate control) meaning separate heating- and airco systems.
