Where CPS located? How to change? 700 1990

Am having hard starting probelm(long cranking) and I cannot find where CPS is, looked behind in dist. cap area and no luck. Mechanic told me it was just one 10mm bolt to remove. Please help! 1990 740 2.3, 4cyl. no turbo wagon. Thanks, Heinz

Crank position sensor is located at top of the bell housing/rear of engine. Typical failure mode is no start or stalling after normal start, not so often a hard start. How have you diagnosed that it is this sensor? What other symptoms.

How the heck do you get to it? I can't even see it. Symptoms are just lots of cranking to finally start and sometimes check engine light, No other, Runs great besides that. Replaced(in the past)O/D relay, 2 relays on water recovery tank, ignition switch, cap and rotor, plugs, battery, have NOT replaced fuel injection relay by O/D relay. Also replaced fan blower and fan rotary switch on dash - it still cuts out, loose wire? I checked & cant see any. Any help would be great! Thanks, Heinz
