speedometer 700 1990

My speedometer and odometer just quit completely. Is there a sensor or fuse I should look for before tearing the instrument cluster out?

    Look under the rear of the car at the differential..thee sensor works off a ring around the spider carrier. There should be a cable leading to a plug on the back of the diff. Maybe a branch or something tore it off.
