Gear Shift Light...Is there one? 900 1992

I have a 92 964 and when the lights are on, the gear shift (P,R,N...) does not light up. Is there a light? If so, is it easy to replace? If not, is there a way to rig one in there? Just seems like one should be there...

Thanks,

Matt

Re: Gear Shift Light...Is there one? 900 1992

Yes, there should be a light in there.

See the 700/900FAQ for a good description of how to get in there and replace it. Basically, you'll need to remove the center (top) piece of the console between the seats. Then you'll need to work blindly under the PRND21 console, tugging gently on the white and yellow(?) wires to pull the bulb socket down and out of the holder. Replace the bulb, fumble for a while till you find the socket hole, and press it back into place.

Its a bit of a pain, but worth the effort.
