Cam bearing/top end oil supply 120-130 61-75

Someone asked a week or two go about a rebuilt B20 with no oil getting to the rockers. Can't remember who, nor whether it was resolved.

However I've just been assembling a modded B18 and some bright spark in the engine shop has fitted the centre cam bearing without lining up both oil holes. Only the feed from the main gallery lines up, not the feed to the top end. Ergo no oil to the rockers. I found the fault whilst cleaning the block but it is a trap for the unwary, it is not very visible.

Regards

You ought to get a star for that one, Pete. I wonder if you can get a

drill down through there so you don't have to buy a new set of

cam bushes. My experience with them is that they are easily

damaged. (Of course you have to remove the cam unless you want

to drill a hole in it also. It's probably pretty hard.....)

Re: Cam bearing/top end oil supply 120-130 61-75

Making a hol wouldn't work. The oil drilling in the bearing looks like a dog's bone, two drillings linked by a slit so the oil for the rockers doesn't need to force its way past the journal on the cam.

I'm going to have a quiet word with them this morning, they should know better.

Regards
