Won't Start 700 1987

My 740 Turbo just died. The motor turns over but won't start. While trying to start it, I notice the tack isn't moving. Ignition problem?

Where do I start trouble shooting the problem?

The tach gets its sig from the power stage, if there is no spark, I suspect it may be the power stage.

Re: Won't Start 700 1987

Yes, it is an ignition problem. Check the Hall effect sensor, the Hall effect connector at the distributor, and the Power Stage. There is info in the 700/900 FAQ.

Re: Won't Start 700 1987

The tach reads from the coil if I'm not mistaken. Or does it read the distributor on the 700... hm.

Check for spark first, with a spare plug. Then check the timing belt.

Fuses and relays intact? Look everything over. Spark will tell you a lot. If there IS spark, is the timing belt broken or out of alignment?

If not, follow that angle. It would seem to be ignition related since the tach doesn't jump a little bit while cranking, as most 700 cars do.
