Jetronic to Motronic conversion on 700 Turbo 300 87

Hello all,

I was wondering if anyone out there knew whether it was possible to convert my '87 740's Jetronic injection ECU to the newer Motronic ECU found in most 900 series and the newer 700 series. From what I can tell the Motronic offers much better fuel supplies at higher rpm's. Anybody out there know if this is possible to do with little work or if it is possible at all??? Thanks for the help as always...

It is certainly possible, European 760 turbos were all Motronic. All you need is some study of a Volvo parts fische to see exactly what you need.

Regards

Re: Jetronic to Motronic conversion on 700 Turbo 300 87

The Turbo 900s use LH 2.4 Jetronic rather than Motronic in the US. It is possible to convert, and I have contemplated it myself and I have everything to do the job with. I decided that it was not worth the effort. The LH 2.2 is more reliable than the early LH 2.4, and I don't believe there is enough in performance and economy gains to be worth the effort.

Save yourself the time, money and agrivation by adding a pressure switch and an extra injector during those high boost times, 14-15 psi, to inject extra fuel so detonationdoes not occur. Details can be found here on adding a G-valve and an extra injector.

I added a G-valve to my 740T but I am running regular boost, since I have so many miles and some knocking, and so far so good.
