wagon shipping advice? 200 1985 245Ti

Has anybody everybody ever shipped a wagon from the east coast to the west coast?

... what is the safest & most affordable way to ship?

... any recommendations for the best service & best price ?

... what companies should I stay away from?

thanks in advance.

Re: wagon shipping advice? 200 1985 245Ti

I bought a car in FL in eBay. I live in MI. I spent about a week searching the Internet for "auto transporters" and firing off emails. Bids ranged from $600-1500(!). I picked one of the low bidders at random.

Mostly, these guys are brokers. They know some folks with trucks and trailers and try to match shippers with cars as efficiently as possible.

The low bid is for open transport. This is all you need unless you have a true classic that is worth $$$. I got really lucky, though. My car arrived in a 30' enclosed trailer pulled by a 1-ton Dodge pickup.
