Rear seat question/problem 700 1990

The bottom support for the rear seat for my 740 is broken. This is the plastic "tray" that the seat foam is on top of and the seat cover is stapled to. Can anyone help me out with suggestions about replacing this part? I've considered replacing it with a piece of 1/4" particle board cut to fit. Does anyone know if this will work? Any suggestions will be appreciated. "Thanks folks, on behalf of the group and myself, I hope we passed the audition."

Ha! This happened to us, too, Michael.

Now I know how _serious_ Volvo was when they restricted the seat's load to a miniscule 70 lbs or so. Two four year-olds?

We killed a little time one sunny afternoon by lacing the seat's frame with some low-stretch (strapping?) tape. Kind of like a snowshoe lacing, if you know what I mean. Certainly not original, but no worse, eh?!

Find a junkyard and pull it yourself. They'll probably never have sell this part to anyone else anyway, so they shouldn't charge you much (maybe $10?). Then just take it out and replace it.
