Sending unit sensor 700 89

One wire came out of the connector which mates to the speedometer sending unit. I tried putting in back , and its intermittant, so I ordered a replacement harness. Its about 2 feet long, has a connector at each end, and grommet in the middle. The end that mates to the Sender is obvious, but anyone know where the other end terminates? Any tips on where to start looking for the other end?

Re: Sending unit sensor 700 89

joe:

I just crawled under my car to find out what's wrong with my fuel sender unit. The speedometer wire basically follows the fuel sender... they travel together into the boot (or in the wagon, into the spare tire area), circle out along the fuel filler hoses, and hook up (on my wagon) on top of the driver side rear wheel well.

If your speedometer sender broke off, look for the end of it at 2 o'clock from the speedometer (assuming you are under the car looking at the speedometer sender, facing rear since the speedomneter's on the front of the rear axle).

The plastic end of the speedometer cable has a forced coupling, so you can't go wrong hooking it in.

Good luck,

Rick

oops. the speedometer sender/sensor is located on the back/rear of the axle, not the front... I forgot. Just pulled the primary pump access panel and saw it on the back of the axle. Yeah, on the wagon it goes through a vertical panel on the front side of the spare tire well, follows the fuel line and attaches to a plastic coupling on the back of the driver's side rear wheel well.

seems pretty simple froma wiring perspective. I just discovered my primary pump is a rusted mess, the holder bolts are disintegrating... oy.

good luck,

-rick
