groaning/scraping brake sound 700 1986

My 760 GLE has has its new front brakes on for roughly 200 miles and just now they've been getting noisy. If I brake a little hard at very low speeds, they will make a scraping sound like a flat stone against another flat stone. I KNOW I did not install the pads backwards. I took it easy on the brakes and did the proper break-in procedure.

What's the deal?

Can anyone offer any insight into this? The sound seems to become more apparent once there's some heat in the brakes.

Check the outer edge of the rotor. Is there a lip? If so, you need new rotors because the backing plate is contacting the lip at the outer edge and the rotors are too thin. This happened to me a few years ago. I replaced the rotors and nary a problem.

These are NEW rotors, fresh out of the box when I put them on. I did paint the hub section of them though because I hate it when rotors rust. Could this have done something to the rotors?
