Euro sources for dashpads? 120-130 1965

Hello All,

I'm looking well down the road to the interior phase of the "revival". Checked the archives and someone listed as "Danny" had sources in Europe for pads at $130 or so. But no e-mail to contact him.

Best I can find stateside is around 300 so even with shipping I think I would be well ahead. This seems to be the one least-bang-for-the-buck item I've come across. But I guess you look at it every time you get behind the wheel so I can see some qualitative value.

Don't want to go the overlay route. I can't imagine that looking like a factory dashpad. But if someone has a photo...

Anyhow, anybody know of these sources?

Thanks,

Mario E.

I can recommend Veteranprodukter AB (www.vp-autoparts.com, partly in English). They produce new dash pads for most Volvos, including the P120-130 and P1800, out of molded plastic. So what you'll end up with is not the original yellow foam with the black vinyl top, but rather one single piece. Real easy to apply, but you can't seem to get the same "spit shine" on it as you can with the original vinyl. They do not produce the under dash that the export cars to the U.S. and Canada were equiped with - much to the annoyance of people over on this side of the pond.

Veteranprodukter has a lot of other useful items aswell (including new seat interiors in most occuring colors), but their prices are on the steep side even for us Swedes. They have a parts catalogue in Excel-format to download off their webpage (also in English).

Other "Euro sources" I can recommend is Genuine Classic Parts, a company which now holds Volvo's spare part stock for all models up to the 240 (and is partly owned by Volvo). www.gcp.se is their URL and it is in English. They also have the complete spare parts catalogue on line for most models. Good complement to Veteranprodukter.

While we're on the topic, does anyone know where I can get the 673017 Knee Protection Pad ("under dash") part to my Volvo 121? Tried RPR and IPD without any luck.

Hope this is of any help.

Sincerely,

Fredrik Lofter

Mario,

I have a perfect dash from the 1964 122S that I have driven for the past
seven years. Rust caught up with me last year so I parked the car. The dash
is about three years old and is in perfect condition. There is a guy who ask
me to hold it but no money yet so if you want it then it is yours for $50
plus shipping from Georgia.

If you are interested let me know....

Oliver

I got my dashpad from VeteranProdukter AB. It's a great pad, fits really well. And the price was less than anywhere else. check out their site. If you email them with a list they'll send you back prices. Downside is I had to wire them money, (though they may have fixed this by now), and you have to pay shipping which isn't cheap, so peruse their list and get other stuff to spread out the shipping cost. I can't seem to paste the URL into this message, so I'll try and email it to you.

They have in the past been available from IPD, RPR, and Yankee Trader
in Easton, PA for as little as about $70.

These (well at least the ones from RPR) are just molded plastic. There is nothing like real fabric. I guess if ya want it ya gotta shell out,( or at least learn how to upholster).

I've torn out a few of the OEM pads and there doesn't seem to be any
woven fabric in them either, although they are thinner, flexible (originally!)
vinyl over the foam padding. For me the increased durability and good
appearance of the aftermarket pad COVER far outweighs the authenticity of
the original one with cracks gaping open half an inch or more exposing the
nasty yellowish brown stuff underneath.
