Could someone please describe from top to bottom the cross section of the strut assembly. I have Bentlys BUT I keep hearing a small click,click,click ..
I know that there is 1. Nut,(washer?) strut mount, strut insert, bottom internal ring. On this model there was no spacer..Did I miss anything?

I checked and re-checked the strut (left only) these were Boge OEM 327F not the Turbo..Actually I didn't replace them, everything else though. They were only 2years new. What I wasn't able to do was torque to proper specs. (used a impact)
When the wheels are straight I can hear a slight noise. When I turned them full
L/R no noise..I think that I should make a tool and tightin properly..Thanks..

Hi John, Yes thats right,when I had mine replaced with boge struts it needed spacers.By the way do you have a diegram of the vacuum lines?I can't find anyone that does. I have a 85 240 turbo also and im not shore where thay go after thay come off the intake.Well good luck replacing the struts. Charlie

I second that it sounds like you have it correct. Although if you replaced
original large diameter shaft struts with the smaller shaft size of say a
Boge Turbo Gas you need the spacer in the bottom. Stock turbo gas shocks from
Volvo do not use the spacer in the bottom. The only replacements I know of that
don't use the spacer are the original from Volvo and Bilsteins. You will hear
noise if you don't have the spacer in there.

Yes, I think you have it right. The internal ring sounds like the same thing as the bottom spacer or washer and all 240s need to have it in place for any gas strut.
