Radio problem 93 240 SE 200 1989

Having trouble with a battery drain that seams to involve the Volvo radio. When everything is off and the battery is disconnected there is a splash on contact and a loud hum that seems to emit from an amp unit under the radio , this buzzes at the speakers. Is this a fault at the amp unit and if so how does it come out and can it be remedied?

The problem could involve the amplifier. It is powered up by the radio--that's how it knows to turn on. Either an internal relay is stuck on the amp, or the radio.

Both components are known for dying.

I have taken out the amp unit and the problem has gone plug it in again and it returns, my bet is that as you said the unit is shot. You dont happen to have access to a wiring diagram for the radio circuit?
Perhaps if you do you could scan and e mail a copy

Thanks for the help.
