940 turbo diesel engine problem 900 1993

Sometimes when I start the engine, the turbo alarm light is lit and the rpm meter is not working. After a few minutes everything back to normal. Also when this situation is present the hand brake indication is not working. I suspect a bad grounding somewhere, but as I have no manual yet I wanted to ask if this is a known fault?

Also the engine starts to leak a few drops oil a week, and the idle speed seems to be a litlle to high. Do the turbodiesel engines also suffer from blocked carter ventilation breathers as on the petrol engines?

I am unsure about any specifics on that engine ( is the '93 still a derivitive of the D-24 T ?).

As far as the oil leak , diesels commonly 'mark their spot'.
If you have 90,000 + miles on any diesel and are using less than a Qt every 1000 miles I wouldn't be too concerned about it.

make sure to run a flush like Ol Schlamm Splung at oil change time to keep the rings and passages clean.
