Used 240

I have an op to buy a used 240 wagon. 1988 , 186,000 miles , ownwer unknown, good metal, but the wipers only work sometimes. My guess is wiper motor?
Question how easy to buy, how much, how easy to put in. By the way price is 1,100 which i think is good...any thoughts Volovo heads

I really like the 88 240's. No problematic ECU's and no wiring harnass rot that I have heard of. It is a lot of miles but the price seems very good. Look for obvious money pits: leaking rear main seal, leaking rack, worn rear trailing arm bushings, bad blower motor, etc. If you have emissions testing in your area see if you can have the car tested before you purchase it. Good luck.

Wiper motor really isn't that big of a deal. Since you say it works sometimes I would guess the most likely source of the problem is the ground. Can be solved in 5 minutes by routing the wire from the motor to the engine grounding point on the firewall. Even if the replacement is the only option the job is not difficult. 3 bolts from the engine compartment and one nut from the underside of the dash on the passenger side. Half an hour project if all goes well.
