94 -960 STILL HAS A SLIGHT MISS, HELP ME!!!!!!! 900 1994

HI THIS CAR HAS A ROUGH IDLE!!!!WHEN I START THE CAR IT HAS A ALIGHT MISS . I TOOK THE THROTLE BODY LINKAGE COVER OFF SO I COULD PLAY WITH IT.I CAN HEAR A FLUTTERING OR TAPING SOUND THAT IS CONSISTANT . IM SURE ITS NOT A FOLLOWER!IT ONLY MAKES THE TAPPING SOUND DURING ACCELERATION. ONCE LET OF AND FUEL IS SHUT DOWN YOU CAN NO LONGER HEAR IT . THE CAR IDLES AROUIND 600 RPM. I JUST BOUGHT THIS CAR . I WANT TO FIX IT AND MY MANUEL IS NOT HERE YET . I HAVE HAD NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT, JUST THE SERVICE LIGHT WAS ON!IT DID COME ON THOUGH AFTER I REMOVED THE INJECTOR COVER TO SEE IF I COUL FIND OUT WICH INJECTOR IT MIGHT BE.I PULLED A CONECTOR OFF ONE BY ONE. I COULDNT FIND THE ONE THAT WAS MISSING . IT DEAD MAKE ALL OF THE CYLINDERS MISS HARDER. AND IDLED WORSE WHEN PULLED OF. ( I NEED SOMEONE TO TELL ME HOW TO RETREEV CODES FROM THIS CAR . I KNOW WHERE TH BOX IS BUT HOW DO YOU USE IT?IM SURE IT IS AN INJECTOR BUT HOW DO I KNOW FOR SURE .I ALSO CHECKED FOR VACUME LEAKS. NOT REALLY HARD BUT I HAVNT FOUND ANY YET.IT STILL RUNS REALLY STRONG AND SMOOTH AND AT TIMES YOU CAN HARDLY FEEL THE MISS. IN OTHER WORDS IT DOES NOT MISS AT HIGHER RPMS LIKE A FOULED PLUG ONLY AT IDLE. I DID PUT NEW VOLVO PLUGS IN IT. I WOULD REALLY LIKE TO HAVE SOME INPUT ON THIS. I ALSO HAVENT CHEKED THE INTAKE GASKET TO SEE IF IT IS LEAKKING , BUT IF IT WAS WHY IS THE TAPPING SOUND THEREE. PLEASE HELP ME WES!!!!

Do yourself and everyone else a favor and next not use caps, it makes it very hard to read and some people take all caps as needing major help immediately. That may be the case but it still is hard to read. A slight miss on this engine should show up with the engine producing a slight quiver when idling. Your problem may not be the injectors. Your problem could be the power paks over the spark plugs. I had a similiar problem with a slight miss and it turned out to be one of the power paks had a hairline crack(just like a bad coil). Volvo plugs (three prongs) aren't going to help you (I went that route myself and all I did was spend money that didn't solve the problem).

The DTC Diagnostic Trouble Code should be a black box and the driver's side fender with a black wire on the outside. If your check engine light is on then you need to check the DTC. Take off the cover and insert the wire into A2 and press the button once(hold down for two to three seconds. The system will flash a series of dots. There are three numbers to each code. All clear is 1-1-1. A problem with the injectors will produce a code of 1-1-3 or 1-1-5 as there are two injector groups with 3 injectors in each group.

The service engine light is just a reminder to get the car serviced at the dealer or compenent service center. There maybe a black rubber button on the instrument panel that can turn off the service engine light when pressed in. Be careful the rubber button can be pushed between the front of the panel although it doesn't hurt is that happens. At least this should get you started.
