B230F behaves strange, doesn't rev 200 1987

Hi,
my beloved 244GLT acted up on me today - I have no clue yet..
I started the car without a problem after it's been sitting for about 2 hours (it's pretty cold here, around -10 centigrades..), it starts without a problem, but as I was driving off, as the engine reached 1900 rpm it lost power, sounded veery strange und didn't rev any further. The problem was gone after about 30 seconds. Then I parked, came back about 45 min. later, drove 25km without a problem, stopped without shutting the engine off, and as I was driving off, the problem reoccured, but much worse and not rpm-related any more: Happened everywhere between 1500 und 1900 rpm, and didn't go any higher. Turned the ignition off, started again, problem gone.
What could that be? Hall Sensor? It's driving me mad... :(

TIA

Had that EXACT same problem with my 85 245. Tried a used AMM and the problem dissapeared, then I sold it...

Hi,

My first suggestion would be the Air Mass Meter which sounds like it could be on it's way out. To check Air Mass Meter unplug it from the Computer (when ignition off) and start the car to see what the result is.

I have had a problem with the thermostat in the Air Filter which could be jammed on sucking in cold air instead of warm/hot. You can test to feel if after driving the air box is warm or cold.

Trevor
