Having driveability problems, stalling, restart , poor gas mileage with 92 940 turbo approx 120,000 mile.I cannot locate the power stage that everyone says goes bad. Do I have one on this vehicle??There is a black thick heavy piece of metal on rear firewall it has no connections other than ground ring on the mount bolt , what is it?? My repair manual doesnt indicate if this model uses power stage. is under dashbord? did previous owner discard it?Have no fault codes in ignition or fuel. I resoldered the aux relay today and replaced the cap and rotor ( cap had oil in it wonder if causes short or poor spark?)
Oh yes, after a successful 50 mile trip with no drivability problems , the water hose by petcock burst , I think the car gave me the finger,

I've been fighting similar problems with my 91. I just replaced the the Fuel Pump Relay and the RPM Sensor and cleaned the terminals on the Power Stage wiring harness. Haven't had a problems for the last couple of days. If mine does start cutting out again I think that the Power Stage will be the next thing to get replaced.

Also mine hasn't set any codes either. It kinda sucks.

The Power Stage is just behind the left headlights on the inside of the fender well. The item of failure is not that, but the RPM sensor mounted in the top of the bellhousing.

Thanks for info, found it after some info on this site, my rpm sensor was replaced by dealer about a year ago, so I am replacing all the usual suspects, no fault codes displayed
