Turbo brakes on N/A car. Possible? 200 1982

I have an '82 245DL that will need new rotors and pads on the front soon, and I'm wondering how easy (or difficult) it is to switch to the vented brakes from a 240 Turbo. Were the Turbo strut housings and stub axles the same as the NA cars? Are Turbo rear brakes the same? Master cylinder? What suspension and brake parts were stronger/better on the turbo cars? I have access to a Turbo parts car and would like to improve the handling/braking of my DL. Any info would be much appreciated!

The brakes are an easy swap, as the others have mentioned. I needed pads, rotors, flex hoses and calipers, so I just bought a set of rebuilt calipers w/pads, new SS flex lines, and a set of the vented ATE Powerdiscs. With the exception of a few broken hardline fittings, the job went pretty smooth, and the increased fade resistance is noticeable.

Turbos were remarkably similar to the base NA car (because its a damn good car to begin with!) The braking components, other than the vented rotor/caliper pieces, are identical, as are hubs, springs, etc... Turbos had Boge Turbogas shocks, but pulling used units is NOT worth the effort. The clutch is the only other item that comes to mind as being a stronger piece in the Turbos, but you don't need it. If you can find the Turbo alloys, they are 15" X 6" and of nice design and quality. Turbos also had the auxillary gauge package you might want to snag. Definitely grab the sway bars, though, they are thicker - 23mm/21mm, compared to your (probably) 21mm/no bar combo.

Not sure what all this chat is about 240T's having "Boges" and "Boge Turbogas" shocks.

The 240 turbos did have Boges in the rear (OEM Volvo shocks ARE Boges!!), but I can assure you that 240 Turbos had deCarbon gas shocks in front.

I agree while although these deCarbons last a long time, they are not worth getting from a junker...unless the car is a low miler or someone spent some real money to get them new.

Rear brakes are the same for turbo & non-turbo.

Just get the calipers from the from the turbo model to switch out th ebrakes and buy the new vented rotors. If you have not upgraded to bigger sway bars get them too. The frount is 23 vs. 19 and the rear is 21 (I think)instead of 16. I put them on my 83 245 and the car feels much better.

The brake swap is easy, I did it on my car. You need the rotors and calipers. I honestly don't know if the master cylinder is the same, I used the stock NA one. I would replace the master cylinder anyways.

Turbo's had bigger sway bars, I think they were 23mm front and rear compared to what 21mm front 19mm rear? You can find out by taking some wrenches and see which ones fit snuggly over the bars, there ya go you ahve sizes and you can mix match. Turbo's had boge shocks, But I wouldn't swap in used shocks.
