Cams 700 1990

Could anyone tell me if i could use a cam (H grind) from a 79-80 B23e in my B230ft? Is there a more progressive one i could use? maybe the GT6 or VX3?
I am also going to use a much higher output turbo from a porsch and run at about 13 & 18 psi. with a 'mad max' switch. Any suggestions on a 'better' cam?

All info welcome

Thanks

For only upper end power a "k" would be good.

An H is not appropriate for a turbo at all (very tight lobe sep).

For mid and upper end power an "a" is somewhat workable, next choice after the "k", and available used in europe in the correct drop in configuration for your distributor drive, whereas the "k" is not.

I don't feel the aftermarket cams from Sweden mentioned by Philip are particularly superior...

philip bradley Might you have contact info fo that group? The porsch turbo has the ability to use up to somthing like 25-35 psi. That allows me to 'under use' it so it doesnt strain to press out the desired psi. Anything can be mounted. but yea it's simular to the mounting of the garrett. Althugh i have an auto gear box now i am planning the change to the manual one, Any reccomedations on that issue?? I like 5 or 6 speed best (i loved my bmw 325e 5 speed gear box)
Thanks for the info Michae1. i think it may be too much effort. besides the fact that the H grind is nearly impossible to come by.

Thanks for the info

You might be the first to put a Porsche turbo on a B230. Will it fit on the manifold? I know people have put larger Garrett and Mitsubishi turbos on and even put Garretts on manifolds that originally held Mitsubishi. Your turbo is good for 13 psi as it is, and might make 18 psi. I hope your car is a manual, because those cams won't be much fun with an automatic. Consider a Unitek Phase One cam or a similar, modern offering from KG Trimming, instead of the old Volvo designs.

You could use it, but the cam needs to be modified to work with the head mounted distributor. I'm not clear on what actually needs to be done to the cam, but it has to do with making it able to drive the distributor. The 240 uses a block mounted distributor that's driven by the intermediate shaft.

You can mount the distributor in the same location as the 240 when you have a 7xx. It requires quite a bit of work though. I think you need the entire intermediate shaft (atleast the gear). The hole to mouth the distributor is already there, under a plate. I've seen it done on a few cars. One in a 240 who put in a late B230.
