B230F LH2.2 Jumper function??? 200

I've got an '85 240 with the LH2.2 injection system. Hanging out of the cable harness to the computer there's a 2-pin connector which I have determined goes to ground, and pin 19 of the computer (which is shown as a ground terminal for the computer). In my car (which I bought used), the jumper is missing. The question is what is the function/purpose of the ground on this pin of the computer? Should I install a jumper? Will it take 100,000 miles off the 249,085 it's got on it already???
Thanks for any insight you experts can provide!

Bob

Bob -

My wiring diagram Volvo Service manual for your car shows that connector with a jumper in place. Definitely pin #19 and #11 which is to a ground.

What that will do ASAIK is deepen the mystery. If your car runs OK without it, and it shows as being installed, I dunno. Put in a jumper and see what happens.

BTW If you really want to learn the electrics, get that book. It is Volvo part TP30808/1, 4500.7.85 available at www.volvocars.com/lit and will help a lot. It has about 150 pages, and the schematics in Haynes and Bentley manuals are photocopies from this book.

The 1985 is a transition year, which can be good or awful. I had a 1975 which I found out later was a transition and many owners turned out to be beta test sites (ho ho ho). You have the older body style with more desirable 4 headlights, no high level brake light, the "new" B230F engine with its smaller crank journals, new type a/c compressor, power steering pump, and vibration dampener, and the LH 2.2 FI control system. There are

It's a little peppier than the B23, and most brickboard owners have not mentioned any inherent bad things about that year (unlike some other models).

Good Luck,

Bob
