urion: I don't know Mich geography that well, but at the bottom of your 'question box' is a category called [volvo shops], and when clicked on and surfed/waded thru, yielded "Dave's Garage, 911 Hastings St., Traverse City." Perhaps someone more knowledgeable will narrow it down for you, and/or give you feedback about Mr. Dave--PD.

Traverse is about 3 hours south of the UP. Might be worth it if you live near the bridge I suppose, although I'm somewhat biased. That is where I take my 240. Otherwise, you'll have to look for an independent shop that "works on foreign cars". Places like that are a crapshoot, but it might be the only option if you really need a shop.

Yeah, I'm half-way up the keweenaw peninsula. I'll be headed to wisconsin for a garage if my local mechanic can't fix the car...though after replacing a ninety-five cent hose clamp, the car is performing like new again (well, 228k mi. new again), so perhaps no need for a mechanic. keep your fingers crossed for me.
