windshield washer pump question 1800

just got a new used washer pump for my girl's 1800ES. the terminals are not marked + and -. anyone know how to tell which gets which?

Jake,

Simply connect two wires to the terminals on the washer unit and with some water in the washer tank hook one wire to the NEG - side of the battery and then touch the other wire to the POS + terminal of the battery. If you have it hooked up correctly, water should spray out the tube. I would recommend that you put the end of the tube in a plastic bottle or something as to keep from soaking everything in sight. You only need to perform the test once because if water does not come out the hose, reverse the terminals and you have the correct polarity.
