burnt smell in the trans oil 900 1991

176k miles and wondering if I should get the fluid drained and flushed or just leave it as is.
DOnt remember when last trans oil service was

I agree--if it smells burned, it is probably past time to change all the fluid.
If you do work yourself, look around and find the instructions. Otherwise, find a shop which will do it for you.
(I am assuming this is an automatic).

If it smells burnt you should definitely change the fluid. Make sure you have it flushed and not just drained. Flush it every year, and your transmission should last the life of the car.
