Front end (steering wheel) wiggles when brakes are applied. 200

Had the pads replaced and rotors turned now we have a "wiggle" when we apply the brakes. Do you think it's time for new rotors? How hard is it to change the rotors? Any helpful hints for replacing the rotors? Thanks in advance

Sunds like thr rotors are warped. It could be that the dealer over tightened your wheel nuts when when refitting the wheels after doint the pads.
Tey're east to replace. wheel off, caliper off/out the way, disc off, reverse procedure with new discs.

Drive safe,

Big Rich.

if you've had the rotors turned, the shop should have been compitent enought to know if they were warped. my bet is that they aren't. i was too hard-headed to believe this but MAKE SURE you have torques each wheel nut correctly. i think it should be 60 ft.lbs. i didn't want to believe it but as soon as i bought myself a 1/2" drive torque wrench from sears, i cleared up my problems. the rotors on a volvo prefer o warp if the nuts aren't done correctly. do yourself and pocket a favor and try this first.

i replaced my 91 240 front rotors with some ventilated korean made rotors from auto zone..wrong answer. one year later and they too are warped..can't stand the heat. I am no deciding (as we speak) to buy some ventilated Zimmermann rotors (German made)for about $70, or go to performance crossdrilled rotors for about $130.

I also rebuilt the calipers, replaced the brake lines, hardware, and pads and then power flushed the system. Some will say warped rotors are due to over tightening the lug nuts. I disagree.

Changing the rotors is simple. Just remove the caliper (two bolts if I remember correctly), swap out the rotors, and reinstall the caliper. The only tricky part is when you go to reinstall the caliper onto the new (wider) rotor, you may have to squeeze the caliper piston to allow enough room for the new rotor.

hope this helps
