GOT ONE FOR YA'LL-Rough running project car 200 1982

Thanks to all the bricksters!
Got one for ya'll...Our pristine '84 244 GLTi was recently t-boned. My donor body for the $2000 worth of parts is a '83 244 GLT (with a blown motor). I sucessfully transplanted my '84 B21FT and M46 into the '83, with new mounts all around. Replaced all the fuses, put in new battery, new fuel filter and it started right up! The only problem is that it runs like *&^*! Real rough-reminded me of the time the '84 did the same thing...so I removed the brand new intank pump from the '84 and put it in the '83....started right up! Still rough! DARNNNNIT!. Checked all vac lines again...found the electrical connection to CIS was off! Eureka! started right up...Still rough! Switched fuel pump relays, same thing! Help ! I also switched the air/fuel box.
Where do I go from here? Should I switch the main pump tomorrow?
Thanks for the help with the clutch cable (I'm now an expert!)

Did you swap the ICU (ignition control unit), the computer mounted over by the windshield washer fluid reservoir? Look for Bosch 0 227 100 018, Volvo 1266714-3, different from the B23 in 1983-84 non-turbo either M-46/7 or AW-70.

I am just looking thru my WorldPac and Volvo parts catalogs to see what stuff may be different between your two cars.

Hope this helps.

Bob

Not sure but is the ECU the same for both year cars? If you put the Computer from the '84 in the '83, that will eliminate a bad computer. Other than that, it sounds like you covered the bases.

Injectors, injector seals, plugs/wires/cap/rotor are all possibilities. Try this. Start the engine. Get a punch and small hammer. Lightly tap the top of each injector in turn with the punch and hammer. Often the injector will foul with a small bit of carbon or other debris, which screws up the spray pattern and causes rough running. Tapping the top of the injector loosens the debris and the spray pattern returns to normal. P.S. This only works with C.I. injectors, not the electronic ones.
