Does Leathermagic work? 700 1986

Have people used LeatherMagic to repair tears and holes in seat leather and had good results with it? I found it as a link on the FAQ's and ordered the leather repair kit. Any experiences with fixing leather with this product would be appreciated. Thanks.

I have never used Leather Magic but I'll tell you what works GREAT! Super Glue!!! You'll notice that on the tube it states "Bonds Skin Instantly" Well, If you have a straight tear or split like on or along a seam or by the edge of the seat where the round trim strips are. Just make sure that you have a small area along both sides of the tear or split and apply a small amount of Super Glue along it. Then hold together (without getting your fingers stuck) for about 30 seconds or so. It's fixed! I repaired several on my front seats over a year ago and they're still holding up well. Before you glue hold both pieces together to make sure of a good fit. Super glue also dries clear so you don't have to worry about color match.

Good luck .......
Jim

Remarkable - you are right. But if you don't get to it quick enough it hardens the crack and it is hard to get the two edges together - the glue soaks in really quickly to the crack where the leather is porous and then if you don't get the two edges together immediately (like in nanoseconds) it hardens and while the crack is now sealed, and presumably the two edges held together, the crack remains. We will see. This is an interesting experiment in buy-some-time restoration! Thanks!!!
