Hi All, This is a WHAT IF QUESTION, has anyone removed the cat. and where would you get the pipe made?I have a 85 240 Turbo and the cat. has a rattle in it,so I just thaught why not elimate it for better exhaust flow.Any problems doing this?

You don't need a pipe, All you need to do is remove the converter and knock out the material in the converter with a rod and reinstall, no backpressure no problem.

You might have difficulty passing smog, but some folks have done it.

The rattle might be the heat shields, and not the convertor itself.

Hefty fine and major pollution.

I ran my 740 (na) for a week like that until the new cat arrived. Could not say that there was that much of a difference.

Not sure about this, but it may not be advisle in a turbo. Something about the pressure.
