Wire harness-Volvo or Bosch made?

To the best of my knowledge, the fuel system components on 240s/740s with electronic injection (LH 2.x) were sourced by Volvo from Bosch. Does this include the infamous "environmentally friendly" wire harness? In other words, do other cars of same vintage that have Bosch LH injection have the same problem with the wiring, or is this unique to Volvos?

Thanks.
-Jim

I have heard that it wasn't Bosch. A subcontract supplier...is the word, but I dunno who.

Paul -

I believe you're correct. When the harness on my 1983 245GL went, I found that the leads from the gray plug (5 on that car) were the only ones gone bad from the insulation. There was a tag on one with a p/n, and I raised enough hell with the folks at Sefeldt Volvo that the Service Manager said that the sub-harness was indeed outsourced.

As I recall, the leads were temp gauge, starter, alt D+/61, oil pressure, and one to the coil, maybe for the tach. The leads that did not go to that connector were OK.

Regards,

Bob, computer urug.
