Programmable EFI for D-Jet?

Has anyone replaced the D-Jet computer on a B-20 with an aftermarker digital programmable system?

Thanks-
Eric

Programmable EFI for D-Jet?

This very subject keeps me up at night. Seems like a lot of the components could be reused. Getting a mapped ignition is also key, I think. But SDS-EFI, lectromotive, Motec, Emerald, and even Truechoice all have systems that I think could work with the B20. After all, a cheap system from SDS is about $500, which is not much more than a rebuilt distributor or a new MAP sensor, two very important pieces in improving the performance of the D-jet system.

But I honestly do lay awake at night and think to myself, "At what point to I bag this D-jet and get a modern system?? And just what is the meaning of life, anyway?"

I have a friend that races a 142 that had the D jettronic system. He found a company in Manassas, VA that manufactures a programable system. After a race, he just plugs in his lap top computer and downloads the stored data. He can then can rework his program and reload it to the computer in the car. According to him, he can control the timing of the injectors to include duration, ignition timing and the maping of the fuel curve. I know he really likes it. I have no idea of the cost but if you are really interested, I can contact him and get additional info.

I'd love to hear what he uses. If you happen to remember when you talk to him next, get a card or whatever and post it. I'd appreciate it.

Thanks.
