I love this car, only thing is, she don't love me.

I have another dead wagon story. A week ago, she drove like a dream. Perhaps a little underpowered, but thats alright for the Mrs. I was driving it when it happened. Sudden loss of power and then it died.

I replaced the fuel pump relay and cleaned up the connectors. Now it starts and runs for about 5 minutes and then it dies. It starts easy, no 'tapping on the gas pedal'. It misses a little bit in the cold phase, and then it misses a whole lot after it warms up.

I hear buzzing and and a pump going from inside. I drive it around the block and keep it running at the stops with the heal and toe method. I don't have the proper tools to diagnose the FI. The #11 fuse was burned and replaced. It is usually pretty hot, just 'not yet' blown. Is this related? I am clueless, the Haynes so far has not been much help.

I just know I am going to get Post Traumatic Stress from this problem if I dont ask for some help. Anybody remember seeing this before?

A "hot fuse", to me, represents a problem.
Have you ever completely remived and cleaned up the fuse bracket?

Could be plug wires. My wifes 240 almost drove me crazy with a similiar problem.
One plug wire (they all looked like new) was laying against the valve cover.
The car cranked and ran fine for about 10 minutes, then would develop a dead miss on one cylinder. Turns out that the insulation on the wire was breaking down when it got hot. I couldn't see or hear a spark. Finally I went out after dark, (as I had a hunch that I was losing fire somewhere) and cranked the engine. Sure enough, after it warmed up, there it was. Thank the lord for the night time. My experience with Volvo's has been to look for the simple things first, cause that's usually where the problem lies.

I heard of a chap with similar sympotoms in an injected 245. It would run for 5 minutes or so, die, and restart ok half hour later. Turned out thet the fuel "strainer" at the fuel tank/pum was blocked. He discarded it, fitted and inline filter and lived happily ever after. Worth checking as its a 0 pence cure to fix.

Regards,

big Rich.
