oil filter thread 200

I'm wanting to put a remote filter on my '82 turbo but I need to know what thread the filters are. I have spent way too much time looking in books to try to figure it out so I'm appealing to the experts. Does anybody out there know? Rick

Easy. Threads are 3/4"-16 tpi. Common Ford size and the standard default for remote full flow filter mounts for machined Amsoil dual all the way down to the inexpensive Chinese castings. It's sweet because you can still use your 3/4-16 Mann filter on those mounts.

The books are usually pretty clear on this. What were you looking at?

I looked in the Bentley and the Haines and the owners manual.

You are right those type of books won't have that info. Get a good collection of mail order catalogs: Summit, Pegasus Racing, Jegs, etc. You'll be informed of interesting stuff in a strange way.

Did I mention you should also check out the Amsoil dual remote filter with microfine bypass filter? Read about it via the link on my site....click through to filters...

I can't answer directly, but I recall an observation by one Brickster that the oil drain plug was the same thread as the filter. Easy enough to check, right? It's a lot easier to measure a male thread than a female. If it is indeed the case that the drain plug thread = the filter thread, next step is to identify the male thread. You can find a hardware store with a GOOD stock of metric nuts & bolts and do the trial-and-error check with nuts. Or, measure the OD and try to measure the thread pitch (number of threads per inch). Armed with that info, look up metric thread charts in either Mark's Handbook (engineers' encyclopedia) of Machinery's Handbook (ditto for machinists). Or get the info to me and I'll look it up for you. gasmitty@snet.net

The Riehle axiom (manufacturer of testing machines):
One test is worth 1000 expert opinions.

Why not measure one??
Or the next time you change filters, measure the stub that comes
out the side of the block?

Somebody on the board a couple or three years ago was making
remote filter kits, I think. Maybe in the Dallas area?
