Changine intake valve seals, engine in car on B-230

Is there a tool to depress the springs with head on the engine? I have done this on OHV, but not on OHC engines.

Sure a tool could be made, but rather not reinvent the wheel.

Thanks for advice,

dick

Sears has one, but it barely works. It mounts (anchor) onto the sides of the head and then you can compress the spring (pusher). I barely works because it's a tad bit short. I had to rig it up make it work (b230f head).

Thanks. Am going to check with a guy at Car Quest tomorrow---says he has a tool for the job. My spelling sucks---didn't even notice I misspelled 'changing'----must be my age.

Happy to hear you have done this chore so if I get into trouble I will yell.

The Volvo tool resembles a big C-clamp and assumes the head is off the engine. So that won't work. But somebody must make a spring depresser that works on-car. The installer tool (Volvo 5219) presses the seals and cam locks in place. I have neither.

Picked up a valve spring compressor and spark plug device to keep the valves up at Car Quest. Tool by Lisle Corp----will report success once I get at it.

Getting closer to an answer, which is yes, but the tool is evasive. Not a Volvo tool. Apparently some of the B-23 from 83 and 84 broke springs and they replaced them in car. Onward---
