Has anyone Changed the rear Diff Fluid in a 1998 960? 900

Hi,
Has anyone changed the Differential fluid in their 960 with IRS? The Plastic thing seems to be in the way of the drain plug?

No can do, I guess the only way would be suction, not easy. Read on the manual no need to replace the fluid, just add if need be.

What if I want to change to a fully synthetic blend?? How much diff. oil could I remove with just suction? Is the release valve located under the plastic thing?? Thanks for you help,

I felt the same way, but I could not find a way of removing the fluid, one thing the fluid in this rear ends must be quality maybe even synthetic, the dealer sells it for around $20 a pint. If you decide to switch some how to synthetic dont forget the aditive needed for limited slip type rear end.

I would not trust the manual. The manual also says that you do not have to change transmission oil, which is a clear nonsense.
