Cruise Control Vaccum 200 1983

I have a 1983 240 Turbo with what I assume is a factory installed cruise control. A engine swap was done on my car and vaccum lines to cruise control were not hooked back up. I can't find any loose vaccum lines but can tell that one of two nozzles on top of the cruise control do not have a line connected to it. I only assume this extra nozzle is for a vaccum line. Could someone help with proper cruise control vaccum lines.

The vacuum line for the cruise control is teed into the line that goes to vacuum resevoir in the dash. If I remember right the hose comes off the #4 intake runner. I have a b230 manifold on my 84 turbo now so I am going by memory. The critical thing is that it goes after the one way valve, that stops positive boost pressure from going to the cruise control thingy. Thats why its teed into the vacuum resevoir line because it has one. The only other line that has this is the brake booster line.

Also I assume the cruise contol uses the vacuum in the resevoir when the manifold is under positive pressure, so it has to go into this line.

The best - and obvious - thing is to have a look at one that's done right. Without going out to look, I seem to remember that the vacuum supply is taken from a tee fitting cut into a vacuum line about right of center along the firewall. The hose was one of two that went to a device that adjusted the idle speed when the a/c compressor kicked on. A turbo vacuum hose layout may differ from a n/a engine.

Good Luck,

I can't seem to find a 240 Turbo with cruise control to check for proper placement of vaccum lines. Anybody know any good Manuals with good diagrams for vaccum lines. I would like to check all lines for proper placement. I have a Haynes manual that does not do to good in this area.

Find any 1983 or 1984 240 with CC. The later models used a computerized system. I have a 1984 factory CC from a salvage yard in a box, and if I can find the instructions I'll see if there's a way to get'em to you.

The fact that you've a turbo shouldn't make a lot of difference. See if you can locate the vacuum line that supplies the heater vent outlet controls. That line may have the most constant vacuum level. Get a tee fitting of the correct size (AutoZone, etc.) and cut it in.

Good Luck,

Bob
