Driveshafts, do they differ auto to manual??? 200 1983

A friends driveshaft (from a manual transmission) near the rear bent and no longer any good to hold the u-joint, what is the difference in a driveshaft of an automatic transmission that I have to give him. They seem to be the same lenght. His is thicker at the rear and smaller diameter up front, but seems the same length. Any comments would be more than welcome, and thanx

I'm definitely not certain on this, but from I've read I have good enough faith to question that the driveshafts are the same. In the research I've done for swapping an M46-M47 into an AW70-AW71 car, I recall seeing information regarding the need to change to the driveshaft from the donor car. I'd check the length of the driveshaft shaft and the thickness of the input shaft (transmission end) to see if they're the same. Good luck with the parts. If you need a driveshaft and are willing to come get it I can probably get you one for $10 from a swede I know.

Check the sizes of the flanges and splined shafts. If they are the same
it should work.
