oil pressure gauge reading

Now that I 've installed it, what should it read? It is a 0-80psi 5 bar VDO/volvo gauge. It is on a '85 245(207k) w/ fresh castrol 10w-30/Bosch filter.
It reads close to 3 bar at idle,4 @2000rpm.
Thanks, Phil

Sounds pretty good, what about full hot engine on a "warm" day? (yeah I know it's still winter!!)

What sender are you using? Is the idiot light hooked up?

Greg, It's the VDO 0-80psi 5 bar(the one with 2 contacts, one for the gauge, one for the warning light)I used a 1/8-27 npt to 14mx1.5k adapter bushing and it fit no problem.

Oh duh! Now I remember! So you got the right sender and everything, that was pretty quick! How was the install? Easy? Was the adapter easy to find?

3 bar at idle sounds kind of high, is that cold or hot?

When cold, idle gives me about 4 bar, running gets almost 5.
When hot, idle gives me about 1.5 bar, running does about 4.

Sounds like it has good pressure. Anything over 1bar with a warmed engine and good pressure is spec. Yours should drop off a bit when the oil is totally warm, no?
