Cut on car today and heater motor makes awful sound! it doesnt stop and doesnt work well. is it BAD? 700

i just installed a new battery in my 760 and this morning I went out to check to make sure it was good and make sure nothing was draining it. when i cut the car on the heater motor made awful screeching noises that could be heard along way off i am sure. the motor sounds over it. is this a job that i should takle or is this like the 240s where it is a pain in the@#@%$! i dont have my manual handy and that is why i am asking. and where is the best price on these.
thanks,
will

R and R is pretty easy, nothing at all like a 240 ( I've done both ) Advance Auto Parts sells the complete unit for somewhere around $35. I think it has a lifetime replacement warranty.
You might want to check under the cowl, if I remember correctly there is some sort of plastic deflector that separates and lets water enter the blower motor. Hopefully someone else can shed more light on that, it's been 4 1/2 years.

Read 700/900 FAQ. To get rid of the noise, you can spray some WD40 inside the motor putting through hole at the bottom the red plastic tube that comes attached to cans of WD40. For a cleanup and lube, take the motor and fan assembly out. To replace with a new motor, one of the Delco or replacement motors mentioned in 700/900 FAQ should fit, unless your car is a late model or modified.
