Engine cuts out (sometimes) when I accelerate 700 1985

Here goes again. Start car, idles perfect. Always starts without a problem. Car can be cold or hot, doesn't seem to matter when the problem occurs. When engine cuts out tachometer doesn't drop. If I am in motion and problem happens I put car in neutral, momentarily turn off ignition and start back up and this usually temporarily takes care of the problem. Probably til I shift or have a significant change in throttle. If I disconnect throttle switch the effect is pretty much the same as my problem. Things I have replaced/checked so far; Fuel pressure regulator, rotor,cap,wires, plugs are good, also connector at back of distributor(broken of course),coil, resoldered fuel relay, AMM hose in good shape,new engine wire harness, throttle switch, cleaned throttle body, flame trap clean, new O2 sensor, cleaned grime off of knock sensor. Any ideas?

Have you checked the air intake hose from the air mass metering unit to the throttle body? Had same symptoms on my '88. The hose is not reinforced and deteriorates from heat and oil. Mine would collapse around 2800rpm under throttle and shut the engine down like turning off the key!

The only way I found the problem was to leave the key on and open the hood while the poor engine was wheezing and gasping. Cheapest fix is to put a 2-7/8 reinforced aftermarket hose inside. Volvo part is about $40 this fix is about $8.

I have an 84 245. I had on and off cutoff problems after doing just about all of the maintenance checks and replacements you did.

The final fix was suggested by a previous brickboarder from way back. It consisted of replacing the 25 amp fuse holder and fuse in the front engine compartment on the left fender.

I know that you have checked this fuse and most probably have cleaned it up thoroughly. It wasn't until I replaced the whole works that my cutout problems went away.

Incidently, I bought the replacement fuse holder and pack of fuses at Radio Shack as suggested by the previous poster. The cost was under $3.00 American. Been in over a year with no problems.

I think only 200 series had this fuse. I have a 1985 740. No fuse there!!
