Rear Speaker wiring

I'm getting ready to put speakers in the rear shelf of my '88 244. I'd hoped that Volvo had included the wiring for these speakers in the harness but I can't find anything that looks like rear speaker wires. I've looked in the trunk and under the dash. Does anyone know if the wires are there or should I plan on running new wires. If I run new wires, I planned on going back along the floor under the carpet on the passenger side, under the back seat and up to the speakers. Any suggestions on speakers?

Jim -

Have a look at the place where the wiring harness enters the trunk. Its way up there in the far left front corner, hard to see with the spare tire and power antenna in place. That is the spot where your speaker wires can thread into the cabin. Then its down behind the trim panel, and follow the large harness on forward and up into the dash. I pulled the rear seat back and bench and carpets to make it a neat job.

Look at the underside of the package tray, from inside the trunk. There are holes in the steel support that can make speaker installation easier by reducing or eliminating the amount of cutting needed. The package tray trim panel comes out but the plastic plug/clips break easily. Get new ones at the dealer, none likely in salvage yard.

Good Luck,

Bob

No, not pre-wired. You will have to run new wire.

Thanks. I'll give up searching and run the wires.
