Wiper washer and turn signals gone out. 200 1984

My 84 240 wagon now has two elec. problems. First, the turn signals are malfuntioning. They work most of the time, sometimes not at all. The relay, which I havent played with, but can hear in somewhere near the radio, is clicking randomly when the turn signal isnt even on. Does this sould like a bad flasher relay. I havent ever taken the dash apart to see if it is even a single relay. Any info is appreciated.

Then, the windshield washer stopped working. The wipers still work in normal modes, but when I pull the wiper control arm (on the steering column) towards the wheel, to get the squirt of water, nothing happens. Even before, if it was out of water, the wipers would go a couple of times with each pull of the arm, trying to wash the window. Now nothing. I havent troubleshot this yet either. Could be a bad connection somewhere. Any info is appreciated.

Thanks.

"...hear in somewhere near the radio, is clicking randomly when the turn signal isnt even on..."

Find the flasher relay and resolder it. You have nothing to lose by trying.

"...windshield washer stopped working..."

It could be a bad pump, a bad connection, bad wiring, bad ground, or a bad switch. I'd bet a cold one on a bad pump, but you need to do some troubleshooting with a test light or voltmeter. A bad connection is easier and cheaper to fix than the pump. In other words, do some homework.

Don, you hinted at what I think might be the problem. Both switches share a common ground on the column.

I'd check that first. It is about the only way the two systems might be related.
