This isn't a stock air dam, is it? Can anyone ID it? 700

I've had this car for many years now, and we got it third hand. I've only now realized that I don't think I've seen another Volvo of any year with the same type of air dam that this has. Is this aftermarket or something? If so, does anyone know where I can obtain a replacement? I like this one more than the other ones I've seen.

Here are the pictures:

Thanks!

It's stock, but that ones's flapping a bit for want of the last clip before the wheel opening.

I happen to have one of the older (pre-90?) 740 air dams in my basement, but I am hanging on to it in case my next car needs it (most do in snowbank country). FWIW, post-90 bumper covers are entirely different and I think major surgery would be required to fit a pre-90 dam.

The older dam is cool, though, especially with the body-colour paint.

It's cracked too. But yeah, I need clips - where? 700

I went to Autozone yesterday again for clips for that, but I'm not quite sure which to get. The ones that are already there have screws going through them, and they have them there at Autozone too. Maybe I should get those?

You can't see it in the picture, but the air dam is cracked too right in the corner. I might epoxy it or superglue the crack to prevent it from getting worse.

I just used a nut and machine screw, with a lock washer under the nut and "fender washers" against both plastic bits, to resecure our flopping air dam. I think I drilled the screw holes out a bit to take the small (3/16 or so) bolt. Once you secure the end, the crack will close up and be a small issue - maybe just overlay a scrap of ABS plastic from the inside with drain plumbing adhesive. Epoxy and superglue won't last.

A fender washer is a flat washer that is somewhat bigger in OD than the normal one for a given bolt size. It spreads the load when securing thin sheet metal or plastic parts, like, well, fenders and air dams. Normal hardware store stuff, and often easily scrounged in the home shop.

A machine screw is a bolt with a head meant to take a screwdriver instead of a wrench. Not as strong as a machine bolt, but convenient.

This is a stock airdam. Is your car a 700 or 900? If it's on a 700, probably early 90's. The kind I have which is on an 89,is much more common. It is the one that has the 2 foglight cutouts. Dealer would be $$$$. only once have I seen this type on ebay. Try Brian Leppin, brian@volvousedparts.com

Yeah, it's a 1990 740. I haven't seen anyone else with this air dam. The other air dam I see is probably the one you're referring to. It angles up around the edges, and it looks more solid. It looks kind of like this

Oh well...

It sure looks stock to me. At least for a US spec 90-92 740.

Looks stock to me also, but my 87 turbo with fogs is much cooler.
