RWD American Wheels? 120-130

Ken: The wheel deal for the 122 series is that this particular model takes a 5-bolt on 4 1/2" circle which is pretty standard for many Ford and Mercury RWD cars, many Dodge vehicles and some others. but usually NOT General Motors cars. The Other thing to take into consideration is that the stock 122 wheel carries a 33 to 37 mm positive offset. Pay attention to the offset before you spend a lot of dough on non-standard wheels. As a rule, provided you pay attention to the offset and the clearances, is that a 122 in good shape, with good springs and suspension will carry a maximum of 215 mm tire width, with 195/60 15 or 215/50 15 being popular upgrades. Get cozy with your tire guy. I know for a fact that there is a fairly comprehensive booklet out there that lists all of the factory wheels for all makes and models, and a description and photo of each. Very useful for body shops who have to find replacement wheels for wrecks, and it'll save you a ton of time searching through junk yards. Right now, wheels off a large Mercury or an Aerostar Custom, appear to be my wheels of choice for an upcoming upgrade. Happy hunting.

Brad

This has been discussed at length on the 1800list this last week. Appearantly there are many different wheels that will work. But I'm no expert and wasn't paying close attention to the thread. Check it out at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/1800list
