interchangable speedo? 200 1986

My question is: if I put a Canadian Kph speedo in my car, would it work right since my speedo is currently MPH? Of course, I know it would have to be electronic and not cable driven, but would it work otherwise? thanks.

I'm not sure. You could swap the face from the Canadian speedo onto the old one if they're otherwise the same.

Hafta think out loud on this one. The drive to the speedo moves the needle a certain distance based on the revs of the rear wheels. What makes it read KPH is the markings on the scale. Suppose your tires go 810 revs per mile, so at the 8100 revs per hour rate, it reads 10 mph. So if the KPH speedo is marked 16 kph (or what the right number would be) at the same spot as the 10 mph, it oughta work fine.

In fact, some of my Volvos has mph and kph markings.

    Make the trade.

    Good Luck,

    Bob
