Sun Roof Conversion 700 1987

I have a manual sun roof and I want to make it an automatic. Is all I need to do is buy a motor, new cover, a switch in the dash, and time? Cranking the roof is a pain in the ***. This is in a 740GLE sedan, if that matters.

Thanks
Brandon

Lemme see if I can grab out of memory all the things I needed for the project I did about a week ago:
1. motor w/ gear for meshing with the sunroof cables (previous owner said he "included" it, so i assume it can come off
2. plastic cover for motor
3. keep the screws when u remove the manual cover
4. u will need an additional screw that has a rubber cylinder on it and a nut on the other end - junk yard part
5. switch for dashboard- junk yard
6. wiring harness- in 2 parts, sunroof motor to switch, and switch to fusebox

If I forgot something it's my memory and i'll add it later.

Nate

You will also need to route it properly on the fuse board.

On a sidenote, I would HIGHLY recommend you do NOT do this conversion. It is rare when you hear of someone going manual to auto, and the reason is that the auto SUCKS. It breaks consistently, and is expensive to fix with reliable parts (i.e., not 150,000 mile used motors).

I believe you will regret it if you go auto. Just mho. Good luck either way.

Thanks I forgot about the fuse. :)

Its just in an idea stage right now. Trust me, I know about the volvo motors. The antenna is such a pain. Somebody at night broke it few days ago so now I have to replace it. He/she snaped the mast right in two, but it didn't go down so it needed to be replaced any how. This is something I really would like to do but trust me I know, I am a little scared about it.

Thanks
Brandon
