Anyone Put a B-230FT into a 960???

For grins I checked the Auto Trader, and there are so many 960 and S90 Volvos out there at good prices. Tom Irwin has clued us on the 6 cyl problems, so was thinking about doing a conversion. Am not interested in a V8 conversion. One of our cars is a 940 SE which seems to be a 960 with a 4 cyl turbo. It is a real luxury box and the IRS is great.

I wouldn't start without a complete donor car. I'm sure that there would be lots of wiring harnesses to change along with the ECU, EZK, tach, engine, exhaust, transmission, maybe differential (different ratio?). A person with your skills could certainly do it, but if you have to run to the junk yard for every little piece, the trips and costs would eat you. I would not hestiate to do this IF I had a cheap 960 and the complete (also cheap) donor car. You would need the donor car factory wiring diagrams.

Major problem with wiring harnesses going to the engine and transmission due to the differences between the 960 monotronic engine management system and 940 with LH injection. Fitting is not the problem, I would expect that you would have to change transmissions as well as they are different for the 960 and 940.

It'd probably fit like a glove. Mine is fine at 100K though, I just replced the radiator and the front brake pads. The pads were very thin. The rotors need to be replaced as there is quite a lip on the outer edge.
