My daughter's 1984 240DL began stalling when trying to accelerate the other day. The car would start and would idle a bit rought at a stop light, but when you attempted to accelerate, it would either stall or begin a what seems like a pop or backfire noise and then either kick in or stall. I spoke to someone who said it sounds like an Air Flow Meter. Could someone confirm this or give any other ideas as to the problem. I believe the Air Flow Meters are an expensive item and if so, I want to tell the techs to look for a used one. Thanks.
