Surely, I sound like a cheerleader for www.fcpgroton.com but I found they have Scan-Tech tail light assemblies (with gasket, circuit board and sockets) for the '83-'87 760 for $65 each. It seems like a God sent for those of us who have known flooding tail lamps, blown bulbs, leaks inside the car, falling lenses, intermitent lights, etc.

That sounds good, but just be aware that aftermarket lights may not be as high quality as the Volvo OEM. I bought a pair of turn signal lenses for my 240 on ebay that were some aftermarket brand, and in less than one year they were more yellow than my plastic headlights!

Aftermarket lenses 200

Heh, yeah. For the '86, I had a broken right front corner lens and I thought I did myself a favor to buy the pair and have 'em match, as the OEM left was kinda yellowed already.

If I knew they disintegrate so quickly (about a year and a half), I would've saved the extra bucks.

Same for me. One of the lenses had so many small cracks that it was white. If I touched the edge, it would break off. I bought a pair so they'd match, and they started off less clear and more grey looking than real Volvo lenses. However, I did recover some of what I spent by selling the good used lens to someone who had just broken one.

Now I'm just waiting to find a good deal on e-code headlights, so everything up front will be replaced.

The ones I bought started off clear, but then turned yellow. No greyness or anything.

BTW, I'm not knocking that all aftermarket ones are inferior. There are probably some out there that are better than the OEM, considering how those disintegrated too. But since I'm not in the crash parts market, I can't say what brand works better.

With many other manufactured goods are taken into account, country of origin is not much of a reliable indicator these days either.

www.fcpgroton.com has the best deals I know for European market headlights, turn signals, trim, etc. Last time I checked with Nick Bauer, Volvo (Cibie) European market left and right headlights, turn signals and trim pieces for my 760T were around $500 complete. www.borton.com sells them for $750. Other dealers want around $900-1000. www.fcpgroton.com also had Scan-Tech parts (from Taiwan) for around $230 complete.

Right you are. Volvo parts are often best, tail lights, head lights, turn signals etc., are cases in point. Being Scan-Tech parts, these tail lights should be acceptable at the price. Scan-Tech tail lights ones I have seen are made in Italy. Headlights and turn signals are made in Taiwan. Time will tell how they all hold up. www.fcpgroton.com sells original Volvo tail lights, head lights, turn signals etc. for twice the price it sells Scan-Tech, still a bargain compared with dealer prices.

Just got a couple myself. Great price, and I'm pleased so far. I would recommend using the original Volvo bulb sockets, though, as the aftermarket ones don't work as well. Not a problem, though. I just transferred them to the new lamp assemblies.

Yes, price is great and quality should be acceptable being Scan-Tech. FCPGrotn also sells Volvo tail lights and head lights at twice the price it sells
Scan-Tech, still cheaper than dealer prices.
