Water in the trunk. Where is it coming from? Update 200 1980

First of all, thanks to those who replied to my original post on 4/07. The car is very well preserved, has no rust and doesn't appear to have had any body work done. And, yes, the water is coming in around the tail lights. So is it simply a matter of replacing the gaskets? Who sells the gaskets?
Also, where can I get the grommets with the 'felt' inserts?

Water in the trunk. Where is it coming from? Update 200 1980

HI -

Check to determine if the water comes in around the taillight unit or, more likely, it is getting into a lamp unit and then running into the trunk through the bulb holder.

If it's the latter, a new gasket will be futile.

Remove each bulb holder and look for dirt, dust, mud, etc., inside the lamp unit. Post back with what you find.

Good Luck,

Bob

PS You can re-use a carefully-removed gasket by lightly coating each side with DAP bathroom sealer when you put it back on. BTDT

Water in the trunk. Where is it coming from? Update 200 1980

Bob,
I checked the right hand unit and all but one of the bulb holders look okay. Are the reverse light and brake light so difficult to get out on all 240's? Anyway, the bottom center bulb and socket looked rust stained. In fact, when I tried to remove the bulb from the holder I ended up twisting the glass out of the metal. It's hard to tell but there doesn't seem to be any crud inside the lamp. I can't see a water line when I look straight into the hole. It would seem that water is running over the outside of the unit. But I don't know for sure. I may have to climb inside the trunk as was suggested earlier by someone else.
